Order of Confirmation - Now Available!

The National Liturgy Office and CCCB Publications are pleased to announce that the Order of Confirmation is now available.

This new publication of the Order of Confirmation is the second official English translation of the liturgical texts for the celebration of the Sacrament of Confirmation. It is the first of the retranslated liturgical books expected to be promulgated in the next few years. This revision follows the request of the Holy See in 2002 to review and retranslate all the liturgical books. The guidelines provided in Liturgiam Authenticam ensure a translation that follows the original Latin text more closely so that its full meaning may be better appreciated. At the request of the Congregation for Divine Worship and the Discipline of the Sacraments, this new ritual book follows the content and structure of the Ordo Confirmationis. This is the "sole English-language translation that is approved for use in the Dioceses of Canada, beginning on the Solemnity of All Saints, November 1, 2016."

Chapters include:
I.   The Order for the Conferral of Confirmation within Mass
II.  The Order for the Conferral of Confirmation without Mass
III. Those Things to be Observed when Confirmation is Conferred by an Extraordinary Minister
IV. Confirmation to be Administered for a Sick Person in Danger of Death
V.  Texts to be Used in the Conferral of Confirmation (including the NRSV translation of the Sacred Scriptures for the Sacrament of Confirmation found in Lectionary: Ritual Masses, Masses for Various Needs and Occasions, Votive Masses, Masses for the Dead.)
